"If you don't succeed in life... I want you to blame yourself. The responsibility is yours." Mr. Clark said this at his first staff meeting in the movie Lean on Me. Mr. Clark was a very strong headed person who helped the kids of Eastside High realize their potential by giving them responsibility.
At my house my father gives me responsibility and I try as hard as I can, but I still fail. I don't always live up to my potential, or it doesn't recognize it. He blames himself saying that I failed because he failed as a parent. I don't fail all the time, but when I do I get a huge lecture. When I don't fail he doesn't even say anything unless my mom says something about it.
Pity respect is the worst, it's forced out of the giver. When I recive respect from someone I hope they are giving it to me because of the respect I show for them.

I like your honesty in this writing piece about how appreciation is not given, really, between your dad and you. I don't think you are a failure, and hopefully someday you can meet his expectations, but more importantly, yours. The responsibility does fall on both of your shoulders, but mainly on you, so give it your all!
